Onsite Septic Systems in the “Wekiva Study Area:”
- 5/20/09: Orlando Sentinel article on a new method to reduce nitogen in passive onsite septic systems by using bits of recycled tires mixed with yellow sand to make "black and gold nuggets."

- 5/13/09: Florida House Representative Bryan Nelson speaks out about the need to write, email, or call Governor Crist in reference to keeping Line Item 471 in the Budget.
- 5/12/09: "New Septic Tank Rules May Be Flushed"
- 5/12/09: Resolutions from the Orange County Board of County Commissioners and the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners imploring Governor Crist to allow specific appropriation Line Item 471 to remain in the Florida Budget for fiscal year 2009-2010.
- 5/11/09: Revised Budget language and specific appropriation Line Item 471 passed by the Florida House and Senate.
- 5/05/09: The Florida Legislature has placed language in the State Budget that effectively stops the Department of Health from implementing new rules concerning nitrogen reduction of onsite septic systems. See Line 10 of Page 4 of the "Implementing Bill Provisions" report.
- 4/29/09: A revised and less specific version of Senate Bill 274 sponsored by Sen. Constantine which would still force septic system homeowners in the Wekiva Study Area to replace their existing septic systems was defeated on the Senate floor by a vote of 19-13.
